What is Podiatry?

Podiatry is a highly specialised area that deals with the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of foot and lower extremity problems. Feet are a complex part of the human body (26 bones, 33 joints and over 100 muscles, ligaments and nerves!) and as a result can develop painful problems. Most foot complaints are easily solved with a visit to a podiatrist. Podiatrists not only treat painful feet, but they also play a key role in maintaining foot health and keeping people pain free before any complications develop. Remember, prevention is better than cure!
